Here are Acer (left) and Milo waiting patiently for toast and peanut butter the other morning. They are brothers. Acer is two years old and Milo is 10.
Last Friday, May 3, Acer, Milo and I were sprayed by a skunk. It was not a good scene. I had to trash a leather coat and get rid of all my clothes in the garage. Then it came time to wash the dogs off and send them to the groomers. Well, $500.00 later and they were sort of back to normal. The problem with being sprayed by a skunk is the smell will stay in the dogs’ fur for about a year. When they get wet, the smell comes out.
That’s enough about skunks. I live in an area just off Lake Ontario in Oakville. We have all sorts of wildlife. Urbanization has forced wild animals to our towns. Racoons, coyotes and foxes among others are not uncommon on our streets.
Acer and Milo think they are friends with these roaming creatures. Beware! There can be negative consequences as we recently discovered.
Acer is an American Golden Retriever and Milo is a Canadian rescue dog.
Next week I will give you a history of ACER.
