“You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, ‘Wow, you’re right! I never would’ve thought of that!’”  Dave Barry

I have spent most of my life around dogs, and they have been a big part of my life. The hardest part is always when they leave you. But I thought I’d add a few more profiles of canine companions that have brought so much joy to my life.

Rufus was a golden retriever who grew up with me in the early stages of my life.We lost Rufus at an early age.

He was more my late Father’s dog. He loved the sailboat. He would sit on the stern and watch the other boats forever, with the wind in his face. Rufus was a ‘chick magnet’ on the race course.

Sometimes you look at a dog’s life and it looks pretty great. Some days I wouldn’t mind just sitting on a sailboat watching the world go by.

Here is a photo of Rufus with my late sister Hazel.
