HERITAGE:
FATHER: JACK DESMOND WORDSWORTH Woolidge, Kent September 2, 1923 Jack was a Pilot/Bomber in the Royal Air Force. His nickname was “Blackhorse”. He lost his best friend, “David” in a mission over Europe. Jack piloted Lancaster Bombers. There are only two of these planes remaining today. Jack was also the President/C.E.O. of a major United States manufacturing company. Jack and I were best friends. We did everything together. We sailed together for almost 4 decades. We had “footitis”. Our first boat was a Shark Sail Number 1093. In total we had seven different sailboats. The last one was “Rufus”, a CS 34. Jack was my mentor! I miss him deeply. He was blessed to have passed in his sleep at the age of 87. Jack’s relationship with his father, Sydney Leonard Wordsworth, was the same as his and mine. Every Saturday in England they would enjoy soccer (football) and beer at Woolidge Arsenal. He lost his brother Douglas in the Second World War. Douglas went to Europe never to return. I, along with many others, are blessed that we never saw a war. Jack met my mother, Joyce, at a dance in England.

MOTHER: JOYCE FLORENCE WORDSWORTH Joyce dedicated her life to raising my sister, Hazel, and I. Her last job was driving a fire truck in World War II in England. She loved her grandchildren Heather, Lisa, Jamie and Jessica. She HATED sailing. Joyce had four heart attacks in 54 days then passed away at the age of 76.
SISTER: HAZEL JOYCE WORDSWORTH (COBURN) 1948 – April 21 2007 Hazel and I were total opposites of one another. Hazel was born in Erith, Kent. She is the mother of my three nieces. She loved her pets. She would walk around the house with a parrot on her shoulder! Hazel passed from cancer in 2007. I love her and miss her. Hazel had every credit card in the universe.
GRANDPARENTS: My grandparents, Sydney Leonard Wordsworth and Florence Joyce Wordsworth, were married for over 70 years. Gramps drank scotch and smoked navy cut cigarettes. He lived to be 96. If you put Jack and Gramps side by side you wouldn’t know the difference.
